”Media bias” complaint is often just a distraction from a much bigger problem: powerful people lying to protect themselves. Misinformation isn’t some abstract debate issue. It’s been used to deny elections, downplay pandemics, attack minorities, and block real solutions. Letting “all ideas compete freely” sounds nice, but in reality the loudest voices are backed by money, algorithms, and political agendas. Social media companies profit from chaos. Right-wing media seem to be built to spread fear and distrust, not facts. Calling basic fact-checking “censorship” ignores the damage done when lies are treated like opinions. Truth isn’t neutral. Expertise matters. Journalism isn’t perfect, but pretending misinformation deserves equal respect only helps those who benefit from confusion and division. Just my three cents.
